European law
From the first day of its membership in the European integration process, Bulgaria undertakes to apply all acquis communautaire. This applies to both primary and derived sources of EU law, which take precedence over national legislation.
The law of the European Union is a distinct legal order, which is not international law because of its unique features. European law applies in the territory of the Member States as a separate legal order whose rules become the law in force in the Member States and in relation to their citizens and organisations, without the need for any further action and measures at national level. This principle of the application of EU law is decisive for the understanding that in each Member State two legal orders, the internal and the Union one, operate simultaneously.
EU law gives all European citizens a number of subjective rights they can enjoy in their relations with their home country and EU institutions.
The development of the European legislation guaranteeing the free movement of people, goods, services and capital within the internal market between the EU Member States poses huge challenges to the participants in the economic relations, the overcoming of which has a complex nature. Domestic and foreign companies are faced with a continuous and dynamic process of adaptation to increasing European regulations. That is why our team constantly monitors the changes adopted by the European legislator, as well as the practice of the European Court of Justice, which is increasingly asserting its influence in the development of public relations and the application of Bulgarian law.
