Labour migration

In recent years, the shortage of skilled labour has become a serious challenge for Bulgarian employers in sectors such as construction, hotels and restaurants, agriculture and the technology industry. The insufficient supply of suitable manpower has forced companies operating on the Bulgarian market to seek a solution to the problem by attracting staff from third countries. As an EU member state, Bulgaria allows easier access to the Bulgarian labour market and equal treatment of European citizens, but there are still certain requirements and restrictions for non-EU citizens to be employed in the country.

At Vatev & Partners we specialise in advising Bulgarian and foreign companies, organisations and individuals in the field of labour migration and mobility by assisting in numerous administrative proceedings, including the issuance of short-stay visas, permits for long-term or permanent residence of third-country nationals, as well as the regime of stay in Bulgaria for EU citizens.

Services we offer in this area include:

  • Consultation and preparation of the necessary documents for the issuance of a short-stay visa (C visa) and a long-stay visa (D visa);
  • Consultation and preparation of the necessary documents for obtaining a permit for long-term and permanent residence in the country on the grounds provided for in the Law on Foreigners in the Republic of Bulgaria;
  • Full legal assistance and preparation of the necessary documents in the procedures for obtaining work permits for third-country nationals in the country, including through the "EU Blue Card", "Single Residence and Work Permit" "Seasonal Worker Permit", etc.;
  • Assistance in the procedure for obtaining residence certificates for family members of EU citizens;
  • Appealing refusals to issue visas or residence permits, providing legal protection before administrative and judicial authorities;
